This year’s official PHL theme commemorating the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence from Spanish rule conveys ‘Change we fought for, an offering to an abundant future.’
FACC TRI-COUNTY 2ND VP LYDIA V. SOLIS joined the 6th Kalayaan parade on June 2, led by organizer Filipino American Community of Los Angeles which houses the Filipino Cultural Center on Temple St. It was a 3-mile walk in the Historic Filipinotown in Los Angeles.

Lydia paraded with other PWU alumnae and posed by a leading participant at the parade – the Philippine jeepney. Lydia is a past president of the Philippine Women’s Univ. Alumni Association of Southern Calif.

FACC TRI-COUNTY LEGAL ADVISER Abraham Lim, Esq. chaired the Philippine Independence Coordinating Council of Southern California’s 120th Independence Day Gala on June 2, at the Hilton Hotel LAX. He received a Certificate of Recognition for chairing the event from West Covina Mayor Pro Tem James Toma. Abu’s wife Annie Cuevas-Lim also attended with other FACC TC officers: Pres. Merwynn Montenegro and Asst. Secretary Grace Ordiales Vaughn. Guest speaker was the 29th Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III.
Consul Gen. Adelio Angelito S. Cruz was the guest speaker at Kalayaan Incorporated’s gala on June 9, at the Universal Hilton, Universal City.  Those who attended besides Merwynn and Grace were Ed Cansino and Nick Munoz. Lydia, PRO of Kalayaan Inc., emceed the program.
